This is the only second time I’ve visited Flamborough Head. The first was a pre-wedding photo shoot back a couple of years ago. The sun was shining, the seal were sunbathing alongside half of north yorkshire as we all basked in the 30 degree heat.

Clitherbeck is just off the Danby road, thousands of locals, tourist even farmer’s will pass over this little bridge a day. They probably have no idea there is such a quite and quaint little beck running down from the moors and into the woodland.

The Wainstones, Situated in the North York Moors National Park hold such a menacing cliff face, over looking Teesside and the the fabulous Rosebery Topping. It sits long a beautiful hill top walk from the view point on the Helmsley road.

Saltburn is probably my local photographic town. Living just 2 miles away its an easy escape with the camera. Its almost the most photographed place in the area too. In fact I’d say its being photographed to death.

A difficult one to find this, but with a little guess work and tramping and there it was. There wasn’t too much water running the day I went and the scrambling over the rock I think would be bad with lots of water. However they did offer a great frame for the waterfall.

On my many waterfall hunting sessions, This one was a little difficult. To grab this image meant walking through the slippery rocks of West Beck, which later turns in of the River Esk. To the other side then a precarious climb down the rock at the waterfall level.

I must of walked this path a million times literally speaking. My children have played in the beck and i’ve watched dippers, wagtails bob between rocks catching insects as they go.

Growing up in neighbouring Carlin How, Skiningrove beach has featured many times throughout my life for varying reasons. Has a teenager I used to run up and down the length of the beach, in my later teen years into adult life I’ve watched deer, Barn Owls and the Fulmars nestled away on the man made cliff.

Scarborough is my go to place when I need the escapism from the riggers of everyday life. I find the peaceful nature of the sea front, seagulls dive bombing hoping for a quick bite, the sandy beach a regular scartopia if you will.
Simply to walking around the streets, looking, waiting, visualising, like nothing else matters in the world. Giving time for my mind to take a breathe of crisp fish and chip tainted sea breeze. Feeling the pressure disappear with a wave of relaxation.
End of An Era | North Yorkshire Landscape Photographer
On Wednesday the 23rd of November 2022 because an end of era on Teesside. I’ve grown up in the shadow of the blast furnace at Redcar. It always been on the skyline for the whole of my life. Love it or hate it its been a prominent structure in Teesside’s and Redcar’s history and it was ranked second largest in Europe.
